We didn't have to wait long: when we arrived, numerous birds were sitting in the surrounding trees. In total, we saw about 10 to 12 cock-of-the-rocks in the immediate vicinity, and more were sitting in the surrounding trees a little further away. The birds are so close that you don't need binoculars and can even take relatively good photos with a good phone camera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Being able to observe so many of these extraordinary birds simultaneously, and especially from just a few meters away, was a very special experience for us and definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Colombia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Best time to see the Andean Cock-of-the-Rock in Jard\u00edn, Colombia<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The best time for observation is in the afternoon during the months of September to May.
